Ms Senior Nevada, Inc. was founded by Patti Hoganson Ogren in 1985: we are celebrating our 31st year.  Our first Senior Pageant was the Ms Senior Las Vegas; the Ms Senior Clark County followed. Both of these Pageants were co-directed by Sydelle Pearson McKay and Patti Ogren. The winner of the Clark County Pageant traveled with Patti Ogren, the State Director, to almost all of Nevada’s Counties to encourage contestants to enter the State Pageant.  The first Ms. Senior Nevada Pageant was held at the Sahara Hotel Casino on March 9th, 1986, with the following counties sending Contestants: Clark, Churchill, Eureka, Humboldt, Lincoln, Mineral, Nye, Pershing, Washoe and White Pine.  Dorothy Guralnik won the State Title and was the First Nevada Queen to attend the Ms Senior America Pageant. Dorothy was 3rd runner up in the National Pageant, and awarded the awarded the Ms. Congeniality Prize.

As originally established, the Pageant was open to only one contestant from each county. The Pageant is now open to all ladies who have reached the age of elegance (60 years and up). We have contestants from around the State of Nevada, and the counties may now send more than one contestant to the State Pageant.

Most people see the Pageant as a talent contest- NOT TRUE - Ms. Senior Nevada has to have the poise, confidence and ability to speak to large and small groups on a variety of subjects. The contestants compete in the following categories:  Talent- 30% of score, Evening gown 20%, of score (stage presence and poise) Philosophy of life- 20% of score and Judges Individual interview- 30% of score.  Like Ms Senior America, she is seen more in appearances than in performances.  Lori Sanchez, Ms. Senior Nevada 1991, was crowned Ms Senior America, the first contestant in any National Pageant to bring a National Crown home to the State of Nevada.

The 2016 Pageant was held in Las Vegas, at the South Point Casino Hotel, August 22nd, 23rd, and 24th, 2016.  Our Pageant is a three day event of activities beginning on Monday evening and finishing on Wednesday afternoon with a Queen’s reception.

The current Ms. Senior Nevada, crowned August 24th, 2016 is Terri MacTaggart.  She will represent us throughout the year and throughout the state visiting and entertaining at Senior Centers, Assisted Living Centers and Theaters.  Our previous Queens and contestants have come from all parts of the state with Clark County, Washoe County, Elko County and Nye County all sending contestants that won the coveted Title. . .
